Preparing for MCM Manchester Expo

Although it a long way off, preparation has already begun on our cosplay for the MCM Manchester Expo in July! We did hope to attend more conventions before July but unfortunately our funds won't allow it :( so we are saving up for events later in the year :]!

Jo has already begun progress on her genderbend cosplay Evil Cole MacGrath (Infamous), so keep checking for updates! She will be doing her own take on a female version of the character, making him recognisable with features such as his vainy skin, singed clothes and electric amp.

Bex has also begun putting together her next genderbend cosplay Han Solo (Star Wars). She will also be doing a female version of the character and using his belt and his gun as distinguishing features.

And finally, Mici will be cosplaying Solty Revant from the anime series Solty Rei. Progression on this will start in April so keep checking back for updates because it's going to be an interesting one ;) especially if you need help with wig styling!

We will also have some special guests representing Team Tatsu! Our boyfriends :D! Bex's boyfriend Nick has confirmed that he will be cosplaying Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series, but the others have yet to decide... All costumes will still be made by the 3 of us though so there is a possibility that we will have progress updates for 6 different cosplays in the next 4 months! We are going to be busy!

As always, if you enjoy what we do please like us on Facebook and follow our Twitter and Tumblr accounts, we would really appreciate it and let us know that people like what we do :]

Thanks everyone <3

Cosplay Wigs (Skyrim)

So an important part of cosplay is the wig you wear! A wig can make or break a costume so it's important that it is accurate!
For Bex's Aela cosplay she ordered this wig from Arda Wigs.
This is Buttercup in Dark Copper Red, it is almost an exact match! After this purchase we can highly recommend buying from these! Depending on what you buy it converts to around £30-40 after shipping and there is the possibility you will have to pay import fees, but it is very much worth it! They are thicker, more comfortable and heat resistant, so you can pretty much style them how you want!

My wig was a risky eBay purchase, if you are going to risk buying wig off eBay make sure you do it in plenty of time, so if you need to, you can order a replacement. I have been lucky so far, the wig is good quality, however the style and colour doesn't match the picture and description from the seller. But I am still very happy with it and would buy from 'jewelry-gift' again! There shipping time from China was also very fast so I definitely recommend them!
Fortunately I am cosplaying a character who does not have an exact identity, so I purchased a wig that I felt looked the most 'Nordic'. I think I might add a few braids in there, unfortunately I can't pin any of it back because it is quite thin and you would see the netting underneath so that will have to do!
Overall. for £10 and how quick I received it, it will do just fine :]

Stay tuned as Bex has got some progress videos on the way :D

Dovahkiin Cosplay Progress

My Dovahkiin Cosplay is well underway! Less than 2 weeks now until the event and there is still a lot to do!

The helmet I completed in October so I could trial it at a Halloween party. It passed the comfortable test but has a few little chips in the paint that could do with touching up. It is made from paper mache and the detail around the face was done with craft foam. The horns are tiered toilet rolls covered in tissue. I will made a tutorial when I get round to it :]

The sword is an addition I am making to my Halloween costume, as I didn't feel very Nordic or at all ready to slay dragons without proper weaponry! Bex will be making me a shield too in exchange for her Aela dress! The sword was made from craft foam and foam board.

I made these Steel/Hide Gauntlets for Halloween too, along with Steel/Hide Shin Guards. I originally attached them with just string but I found that they kept slipping off and I managed to lose one at one point! So I have attached straps with a press stud, it keeps them firmly in place and they are much easier to get on and off! The string doesn't go all the way round, it stops at the fasten.
These were made from more craft foam, some adjusted 'wolf' coloured leg warmers, grey matte ribbon and tapestry wool.

This is a shoulder guard that I have added an additional leather shoulder guard to! (At further inspection of Dovahkiin I noticed he had two!) These are both craft foam, the bottom one is wrapped in a soft leatherette/vinyl and glued into place. To finish the edges I used a drill bit to punch the holes and threaded it with tapestry wool.

My leather top is pretty much finished! It just needs some detail adding to it! The belts and the hide skirt are next on my list, they have all been started and I will be spending the next few days furiously trying to finish them!
Wish me luck ^_^
